Daycare

Last week was Lauren's first "partial" week of daycare (I go back to work Oct 1st but I dropped her off a few hours each day this week). Of course she was fine, it was me that was having a hard time. I dropped her off the first day and had a hard time leaving. I took forever signing in and dropping off all the staples (diapers, wipes, bottles, extra outfits, etc.). I guess everyone could tell I was lingering so they suggested I just stay and hang out as I had done in the past but I knew I needed to leave. So, I left without crying (ok, my eyes weren't dry but I wasn't "crying") and made it all the way around the corner to Lee Anne's house. The next couple hours felt like an eternity but I returned to find she slept most of the time I was gone. I was a bit surprised considering she doesn't nap for me during the day. I guess that is why we chose this daycare though; they have the magic touch.

It gets easier each time I drop her off and I get really excited when I go to pick her up especially when she wakes to the sound of my voice with a smile on her face.

Second Nats Game

Lauren got to enjoy her second baseball game this weekend. Mike's work had some tickets at the National's game on Friday night so we packed up the stroller and diaper bag and headed downtown with some of his coworkers. We were not sure Lauren would behave the whole night, but she was great...probably because she was the center of attention all night!
We had a great time...the game was back and forth although fittingly eventually the Nats lost in the 13th.

Mobile Entertainment

Lauren is becoming more and more observant and enjoys looking around. We put the pack n play mobile into position to give her something more colorful to stare at instead of the ceiling.
She loves it.

Of course she can't reach the bears so the entertainment only lasts so long.

As you can see from the photos, her cousin takes one of the bears and sets it beside her but considering Lauren's coordination is pretty much nonexistant, she just stares at the bear by her side and doesn't know what to do.

It doesn't take Saylor long to see the flaw. Check out the smile on Lauren's face when Saylor hands her the bear instead. Thank God for older, more coordinated cousins :)

On a Roll

Lauren has rolled over a couple times but we thought maybe it was because she was on the sofa and the cushions have a slope. So, last week, we decided to put her to the test and see what she could do on a flat surface. As soon as we put her on the floor, she rolled over. When we got the camera ready she just cried but once the camera was off and Mike was out of view, she rolled over again.
She has been rolling over on a daily basis now but this morning I finally captured her on film as we were playing and getting ready for the day. Nice work!!!

Annual Crab Fest

It is hard to believe the summer is already over but what better way to celebrate than with the annual Goodchild crabfest.

Thanks to GG and Papere, we arrived via water while Lauren stuck to the road. The weather was perfect and although Lauren didn't get to pick crabs or win any games, she had a great time meeting everyone and watching the festivities while bonding with GG.

It was our first night away from home with Lauren and although we had a lot more bags and other stuff to lug around than usual, it went rather well. I think River was the only one to lose any sleep as she kept coming downstairs to sniff around and check on the baby before returning upstairs to sleep. Although you wouldn't know it had gone so well from this photo, I thought it was funny. It was taken the following morning and if you can't read Lauren's top, it says "Crying: it gets the job done"

Sydney Visits

Cousin Sydney is starting to warm up to Lauren...although she isn't excited about sharing Jo Jo's attention just yet (and who can blame her?) Sydney started to approach Lauren once she was safely back in Mike's arms. Here Lauren and Sydney sat together on the sofa as she enjoyed her snack.
