Wilbering in Williamsburg

We had a great 4 days Wilbering in Williamsburg with the entire Wilber family. Lauren got a chance to hang out with 3 of her cousins which meant we had babysitters 24-7. Mike brought Lauren's new Pooh bike and the kids took turns pushing her around the house, entertaining her for hours (really...hours). As you can tell by the new song choice 8 adults and 4 kids in one house for 4 days can get a bit entertaining.

Staying in Kingsmill was great as it a resort like setting with great community pools and bike paths. We took a couple trips down to the historic area of Williamsburg. Here are a couple photos of the entire group walking around the historic area:

We'll have to explain later to Lauren what she "saw" as she napped most of this afternoon.

First Birthday

Time flies...but this is crazy. One year already! Here are some shots of Lauren's birthday party from last Sunday after the baptism. We tried to get the shot of the one year old with icing and cake smeared over her face but even though Lauren ate some of the cupcake she much preferred to just break it apart and spread crumbs everywhere.

Every gift was a hit...here's Lauren opening the 4 key piano.

All the kids loved the fact that a one year old can't open gifts...they also loved how easy it is to take toys away from a one year old.

This toy was a huge hit with all the kids. The younger ones would ride while the older ones pushed.

Baptism

Lauren was (finally) baptised this weekend. We had planned to have it a few months ago but coordinating the family schedules can be tough. Lauren was the only baby being baptised this week at St Veronica so we had a great little private service with all the family. The service was a bit on the longer side so Lauren got a little fussy but overall she held up well.

Here are a couple shots of us with Fuzzy and Chris, Lauren's godparents. Lauren is much more interested in the candle flame Chris is holding than the service.

First Step

Lauren has been standing on her own more and more. It reminds me of a cartoon where the character runs off a cliff and continues until looking down and realizing he is dangling in mid-air. Lauren will stand there while concentrating on something but once she starts to look for your hand, she sits down. She is constantly on the go as it is. I can't imagine her walking but it won't be long.

The Saylor Anne

Lauren just loves Saylor's rocking boat. She walks around the house pushing it and can even climb in by herself.
Here's a video of Lauren rocking herself:

4th of July weekend

This weekend we headed out to the shore. There was a great block party on Saturday afternoon/evening with some fireworks but Lauren was fast asleep by the time the fireworks went off. Aunt KK's place doesn't have blinds and the sun comes up over the water EARLY...so we normally don't get to sleep in much when we go out there...but we were a bit cunning this time and put Lauren's playpen in the Laundry room and shut the door. Worked like a charm as she slept until 9:30. We now just call the laundry room "Lauren's room" as that is the only room she will ever sleep in when we go out there. Sunday was nice but cool, so we figured we'd take out some kayaks. Here are some photos...If you look closely, you can see the yellow kayak out the back door.
